I worked with an experienced hire in Consulting, coming in as a Manager, who was a Sr. Director in past life, MBA and MS. His base was $190k. Highest I’ve ever seen for a manager.
You won’t get anywhere close as a M or SA. You need to lateral as a director for that same comp.
For reference, I applied to an EY role also. Got a request back to answer additional questions. One was if I would accept a downgrade to a Manager (req was for a director) but the salary was $270k base and this was not negotiable. EY manager at $270k with room for growth? Id be down for that any day. Thanks for everyone’s feedback, I’ll just forget about the KPMG role for now.
What service line? I’ve never seen an M at that salary but they could exist, potentially strategy or the PhD folks as they make more than regularly advisory. Lol SA doesn’t come close.
For the rest: 401K match is about a third of that and higher bonus range.
I’m just curious as to why a recruiter would even reach out to me. You’d think a Big 4 firm recruiter would do the research. I mean, my company and level is blatantly listed on my LinkedIn, and Glassdoor is accurate enough. That’s all the data you need to put 2 and 2 together. Is it not?
@OP...but look..the recruiter did turn your head and make you research on why the recruiter did not research. That's exactly where the recruiter wants you to be! I'm sure (s)he has reached out to folks half your salary for the same role as well..
Chief
Even at mgr level you’ll be taking a haircut
Some Managers and Directors make 220k at KPMG...
I think you’ll be too far apart on comp and have too much real world experience for a SA role
Strategy or Consulting?

What firm are you coming from? are you in strategy? Tech?
MBA SAs start around $160k I believe but I don’t think your TC is going to be anywhere near what your making now. Not even same ballpark.
