As a reminder, SM at PwC is a more junior role than SM at other firms. I see a lot of people get a bait and switch based on title

funnylike

As a note, the PwC levels go:

Manager, Senior Manager, Director, Partner

Deloitte, Accenture and EY go:

Manager, Senior Manager, Partner

If you are at the level before Partner at your current firm, come to PwC as a Director, not Senior Manager

helpful

it’s an accounting firm not an nfl team. lower your expectations

funnylike

Depends on the role level. Higher numbers are considered if you have a clawback at your current company.

PwC offers higher signing bonuses because salary isn’t as flexible due to cohort model. also companies don’t mind signing bonus as much because they help retain the employees due to payback period if you leave. I know SA’s that got 40k.

like

I got $40k but I’ve heard of $50k, also dependent upon level.

It’s an impossible question to answer.

Simply put, the firm can pay whatever it wants to depending on the circumstances. It’s a privately held entity, so there are no hard and fast rules on maximum anything. If they see a great candidate that can bring some rare outsized benefit to the firm, there is a chance that candidate can negotiate a rare outsized signing bonus.

$1

funny

Probably 10-15k depending on level. Since it says you’re a SM I doubt 15K is moving the needle for you.

Role - Senior manager
Thinking if I join say Jan 2023, I lose my current company bonus, and wouldn’t be able to perform as much to get a performance bonus from PWC in Aug 2023, so I’m looking at a performance bonus in Aug 2024, that’s like a year and 8 months from joining.
So was thinking I need to be compensated through a better sign on bonus..

Yeah unless you get lucky, you’ll be put on a project the week you join lol

Got 30K sign on at M2E cohort level last year.
For SM negotiate to 40K atleast

Right now no sign on bonus except for very exceptional and needed skills. If you have them - play it. If not - show flexibility or negotiate better cohort / title.

This is not true lol
