Which is better for growth within industry? FP&A or controller route?

A lot of FP&A people end up as CFO, which is above controller. So general track is the same, except I'd argue FP&A gets to see more valuable sides of the business compared to accounting, while still having accounting exposure.

Source: I'm a senior in FP&A and my CFO did finance and FP&A work their entire career.

By a slim margin I’d say FP&A, I switched from accounting track to FP&A about a year ago. I think it’s probably a faster track to finance director from FP&A and you become more equipped for CFO as mentioned.

I have an opportunity outside of healthcare that would pay more and challenge me in new ways that I haven’t experienced before. It’s a total shift that would really heal my work-life balance, job satisfaction and budget. My only fear is that I would not be using the license and degree that I worked so hard for. I would appreciate any input!!!!

Please who knows about the advisory practice within the PwC financial crime unit (Canada Acceleration Centre)? I understand it is a client non-facing advisory role. Would it be a good career decision for someone coming from GRC firms like Kroll, Control Risk or Exiger? I am concerned about the negative reviews relating to the PwC acceleration centres in general, and getting stuck in a role which does not provide growth opportunities. Thank you.
