Questions:
1. Are you [1.a]EMPLOYED (W2) or [1.b]CONTRACTED (1099)?
2. If [1.b], do you have your own device or a Capgemeni device?
3. Are they anticipating you to work from a specific city or time zone? If so, can you meet that time zone requirements? (i.e. if they expect you in NYC and you’re in Vancouver will you wake up to make an 8am meeting?)
4. If [1.b] contracted, does your contractual agreement with Capgemeni have any clause that in any way relates to your geographic location or work jurisdiction?
To answer your question, think about if you’re permitted to work in Canada by Capgemeni and then, secondly, if you would get away with it. If you’re actually EMPLOYED with Capgemeni it’s harder. If you use a Capgemeni device, they could track your location if they care. If you lie on a time sheet or breach your contract, you could be sued and have your reputation ruined.
Well, you are going to use their laptop or access their network
If they are still using the same timesheet software they were using last year, nobody will ever know if you enter the wrong location. Almost everyone i worked with, including myself, listed our home state as the location regardless of where we physically worked.
In the 8 years I was employed there, never heard of them tracking anyone's IP address.
Yeah imo not really an issue of being tracked out of country; but may be an issue if he takes Capgemeni property into another jurisdiction without permission
Can you travel to Canada? The border is closed.
They could track you down based on IP address if they wanted to. Is there a residency clause in the contract that brought up this question?
