Question for L&E attorneys in California:

I’m aware there’s a strong demand for talent in the region, but I’ve noticed that candidates tend to be less responsive or communicative compared to other markets. Has anyone else observed this trend? Any insights into why this might be happening, or advice on how to better engage with talent in California?

Case load= malpractice? Small plaintiff’s firm of 25 attorneys. I was a 2 year associate hired and given 50 active files in pre litigation status. 9 mos later a partner quit and I inherited 45 more. I got up to 105 files. Now I hover at 85 active files in varying stages of pre lit. I asked managing partner for help and was told to settle more claims to lessen my load. Is this what people consider negative work culture?
