Quick gut check from the bowl

I'm a boutique advisory firm. A contact just reached out wanting to send a direct client lead my way (totally outside my firm's coverage of this client, but same broad sector).

My employment contract has no non-compete, no exclusivity, no moonlighting clause. Technically nothing stopping me.

For those of you who've been at MBB or boutiques: do people actually take side engagements like this when the contract is silent?

I'm interviewing with KKR for a Principal role in their real estate group. All online salary resources are all in alignment with a total comp of $200k+. I'm assuming based on the average salary reported across these portals for principal that those figures apply to the RE group as well. Anyone have any direct knowledge or can speak to that group's comp?
