There will be a client wherever you go!
I would disagree that there will be a client everywhere one goes. This is true only for profit/revenue centric roles anywhere. You can always decide to be cost or investment centre, which is a good life to be honest.
Also not all clients are same. Obviously you create better relationships if you're on the same side (within same firm) working as internal consultants.
