If money was not a criteria, what job would you do?
Hi Everybody,
I'm currently working as an outsource in Rapid Metro as Technical Assistant/Civil. I earned a Master degree in Water Resource Engineer after B.Tech in Civil Engineering. Due to Covid 19 I took job back in Civil sector even though I have a masters degree in WRE. It's been almost 6 months of constant applying and rejection and still I'm nowhere close to a job in my dream branch which is the Water sector.Im hopeful that through this portal I may find an entry level position in water

Interesting post....For those of you hoping for more of perhaps exclusive WFH after this is over - this essentially is it. At EY we park people in cheap places and pay them peanuts. No firm will pay big bucks to have you sit in your HCOL apartment, they’ll just move more of this remote stuff to places like Jacksonville and Alpharetta (in EYs case).
Agreed AC1 - i had a client there and lived there for six months.
I definitely understand OP. Had an analyst at kpmg in a similar boat that got put on my project. He tried leveraging to move from analyst to associate plus 30% bump (he was mid ~45k) cause he had an outside offer for 75k and would've been happy with 65k and staying at kpmg. They wouldn't commit and he ended up leaving with that offer. He was also a military veteran so he was able to parlay a job at the Pentagon right after he started his new position. So now his new company is paying him a portion of his 75k (since he's on military leave) plus he's working and getting paid to work at the Pentagon, and he's making over $100k total comp all in now and more than me now. My point is know your own value and don't let your current salary determine that. You have enough experience and can enter as an experienced associate at another firm and most likely double or close to double your salary depending on the city you live in. Best of luck OP
Thank you so much for these words, definitely helped me get through the day today

Are you in the US/in a deliver center?
What YOE and practice area?
SC1 - Both has its challenges but I am preaching OP to get into technical implementation side. Even though that may not increase the salary at his cohort but couple of years down the line he will be able to negotiate better outside with technical skill set than just being a PMO guy.
Either try to establish relation and transfer to advisory, or leave. I worked with some SDC folks getting hired with the promise of low pay but work life balance + no travel, then ended doing equally intense work and travel. It is absolutely not right.
You always have experience to pivot to industry. It’s just a tough market right now. Hang in there!
Get out of there
Delivery center staff is paid similar to industry roles. While I realize that sometimes delivery center staff supports client facing consulting engagements, the fact remains that the screening, hiring, work expectations and compensation for delivery center vs client facing consulting are different. It’s apples and oranges. I have seen delivery center folks make a transition to mainstream client facing consulting, where the comp and prestige is higher. Rather than complain, seek help from people on your projects and firm to make the transition. At times it may be easier to pivot to another firm and then boomerang. Good luck!
I’m in the delivery center making the same amount. Just apply to every job that interests you. Start now, don’t wait until you hit a year or two years.
How many YOE?

Although it may feel like it, you have a lot to add to your resume. Take stock of your skills revamp your resume and market yourself inside PwC and outside.
Dunno how to tell you this, but you’re making less than an entry-level data-entry job in retail (speaking from personal experience).
42k??
Yup
Same 😓😓
