Sound like more work for less money. Sure you get the name, but what’s that worth really

The Senior Associate bonus will not be 25%. It says “up to 25%” in the offer letter. But realistically, most people get target box placement at one year.
So your bonus will likely be 12.5%

Keep in mind the average tenure at BCG is just 21 months. It’s a sweatshop, so be prepared to work hard.
S& hours are just as long if not longer... we sell similar work for less money, resulting in understaffed projects all the time
Fast forward 2-3 years and you’ll make up more than that just in bonus differential between BCG and S& lol
Leave only if you think your exits from BCG will be materially better than your exits from S&.
For what it’s worth, I had a similar option to leave S& for McK, declined, and left for the buyside for way more than I could’ve made at either with 2 YoE.
Sure, but I recommend you find a way to transfer to S& first. I don’t think I’ve met anyone from PwC that managed to find a buyside exit that they were satisfied with. Not saying it’s impossible, but think you’d have an easier time from another firm.
what office? when did you interview/hear back? just had a final round
Why would you take a pay cut? Exit opps at BCG aren't what they used to be. Switching to BCG won't magically improve your exit opps.
If you like consulting and want to stick it out for about 3 years then the $ will work out and the brand will be an extra kicker. If you think you wanna do this for a year or two and move on, don’t.
OP I had the same choice and decided to stay - DM if you want to talk about it
1. Like BCG1 mentioned, don’t expect a 25% bonus
2. Promo timeline to consultant may be over 12mo. You can do a search on LinkedIn to see that avg time for lateral SA to get to C is closer to 18mo
3. With ~3YOE and no MBA, there’s very little chance you can negotiate your title to C. They expect 5+YOE for that. I’ve actually seen quite a few people with 3YOE come in as A, so looks like your SA offer isn’t too bad.
TLDR: take the offer, maybe negotiate signing bonus if you want.
I also dont think financially the pay difference would be that significant in 2-3 yrs. S& matches fairly well until Manager I believe
Yeah, if you modeled the cash flows for this, staying at S& almost certainly wins. The only way BCG wind is if you believe you somehow get significantly higher comp at exit, which is a dubious proposition.
Rising Star
BCG > PwC
Yeah would probably take it, much much better exits and quality of work you get to do :/
I faced a similar situation- 1.5 years as an Associate at S& reset to A at BCG, technically behind my peers who started with me. We’re playing the long game.
Just started haha, but I’m happy with my choice based on my experiences at S& and very little that happens at BCG can change that
