Honestly SF is not a great place to look for entry level marketing/advertising roles. The cost of living is so high that many companies and agencies only really hire at senior levels because they can’t afford to pay an assistant or coordinator enough for them to live comfortably in the city. I would recommend moving to a cheaper, more services-oriented market like Chicago, Dallas, or Atlanta if you can. Otherwise, you’ll likely have to extend your search beyond agencies and look for a junior-level marketing role at a tech firm or startup. Check out AngelList for startup gigs
Grab coffee with as many people at companies you're interested in as possible. Have a point of view on why you'd be excited to work there and what you can bring to the table (scrappy research skills, hunger to learn etc.) Don't give off a "I'm only here for the job" vibe. You're just a curious, passionate person who they wouldn't mind spending time with. Do this a bunch of times (you'll get better along the way) and eventually someone will bring you in for an interview
Ask for informational interviews. Attend some events like a 4As mtg or SFBig meeting where you can meet people. I’m sure you’re all over LinkedIn, but make sure your profile is up to date and use it to connect
