Red flag? I was approached about a GC opportunity at a smaller company. They are moving quickly- I’ve had two interviews in a week and they want to do a final interview in a week or so. The current GC is retiring. I’m currently in-house and the process took several months. Is it a red flag that it is moving so fast, or am I overthinking it? Thank you.

The current GC wants to retire so they need to onboard someone promptly to start that process

Thank you

im at a pub co and the process was quick (2 weeks, 2 rounds, no stupid assignments) and its the best job i had

Thank you!

Congrats this sounds like a great situation. You probably get some time to get information from the outgoing GC and then you’ll be the GC. I’m jealous.

Ha thank you! We can be so cautious as lawyers don’t can be helpful to hear everyone’s perspectives.

Have they interviewed others? I think if they’ve already interviewed a bunch then no problem. If they haven’t then the inevitable question will arise at some point… what else is out there/did they rush the process.

They are interviewing others but it does feel rushed. The posting only went up a week ago.

When I moved in-house a year ago as a BigLaw mid-level, I took a 45% pay cut, far more than I was comfortable with (although I was fine with a 20-30% cut). I took the job because it was a great role and I was focused on making the jump in house and developing the skills I wanted, which required me moving away from my firm practice area. Now that my year-end review is coming up, how do I ask my company for a significant pay raise (not just a 2-5% inflation-matching raise)?
