My resume got shortlisted for Operations Associate/Engineer-Amazon Managed Services role. I am an experienced AWS engineer with 5YOE.I feel like this role will be degrading in nature for me. Is it worth joining for this position. I would love to join Amazon based on my experience and skill set. But Not to some position which doesn't require AWS experience.

I would say scrum product owner unless you specifically want to be a scrum master. I think the big four push SAFe because It’s focused on more organizational focused versus just building an individual product.
Scrum is definitely important to learn but I would also take it design thinking course if you want to get into true product strategy.
Any idea who provides good design thinking courses.
Would you recommend direct Product Management certificates over these methodology based certificates. For e.g. Product School, Cornell PM certificate, Reforge etc?
I have a limited budget and limited time. So, I want to prioritize courses based on best ROI, decent cost (< $700) , moderate time (1 -3 months) at the top.
I have an T1 MBA as well.
Pro
Scrum Master is the easiest. I think SAFe certs are great but if you're aiming to be a product owner, then a PO cert would be better. SAFe certs and experience are definitely valued in consulting. Scrum Master is such an easy cert I don't give it much weight.
Probably scrum master first.
Product owner can remove work from scope so I always try to get the client to do that but it never works out that way. Since you're asking this it's probably not a good fit rn.
Safe agilist I'll have a group training for everyone on a project moving to safe.
I will hire literally anyone in CDP/TDP for scrum master with no certs and just have them do CSM before they roll on then train them up a bit. There is not much to it once you get rolling. Hopefully you are contributing to the team/project in other ways.
SAFe Agilist is simply the entry cert to SAFe, there is also the SAFe POPM cert, which is more applicable.
However, I would still recommend going for CSPO if you legitimately want to be a product owner/manager long term. Much more recognized and applicable to the actual PM work
I’d say those are more useful for a product owner role than product manager
That’s right. After I did some research yesterday, I learnt that there is difference between Product Owner and a Product Manager. PO manages the internal backlog and the user stories. PM managers external - research, strategy, vision, GTM. I am not interested in the PO role.
So, I am now debating between product manager certificate programs and these type of methodology programs.
I have a T1 MBA. I have experience with managing product development, right from idea inception to delivery. But, this experience was old school water fall project management methodology + product strategy + application development. I can definitely leverage this experience for the agile product management that is being practiced in the industry, but, I do need to polish some of my Project management vocabulary and my Product management skills.
Which is why I am coming down to - Should I learn about scrum and agile methodologies or get a product manger crash course like Reforge? Probably, may end up doing one methodology certificate course and one Product Management. Methodology because it will make the entry easier and along with a PM course, it will have a better Value Proposition. I am over 40 and I see some discrimination for entry level positions. I have to target more senior or principal roles.
I probably will choose SAFe because it is an org level and will cover SCRUM methodologies too.
My decision: SAFe + reforge.
Thanks for the collective wisdom. I have nailed it down to product owner, SAFe and design thinking.
So, from what I understand from Slalom 1 and LM 1 is that - between a SAFe POPM and CSPO (scrum certified product owner), the CSPO has more value if I am pursuing a Product Manager role. Is that right?
I'm a delivery lead for a project (strategy since you seem to be into that) at your company. If people have too many certs and no experience it looks like you aren't good at getting staffed.
No one cares about your certs except maybe the client and you can get them before rolling on if you're a good fit before they send in your one-pager.
The best thing about these courses is to find answers and different perspectives for real situations you encounter.
