Seeking input from others (particularly recruiters) on whether or not it’s a good idea to have your own consulting business listed as your current posiition (as self-employed) on your resume, which also happens to cover a gap since being unemployed months ago. This would be for cases where you’re legitimately doing part-time freelance work to get by, but don’t have enough clients/work coming in. I’m thinking how it’s framed when asked about it may be key. I'm an introverted person, like to keep to myself, focus on work, spend the rest of my time on family, gym etc. I've been told that I need to work on my communication and client relationship building skills. any books I can read? I don't follow pop. culture anymore, no longer actively follow team sports (but sporty myself) as I consider it bread and circus for the masses and don't rly enjoy work drinks... Am I doomed? I am in a tech IC position. One of friends switched to FAANG by converting the profile to consultant profile. The friend who might have less tech knowledge than me is now in FAANG and earning more. If the end goal would be that the friend might one day be a product manager and me an engineering manager taking instructions from the same friend, isn't consultant profile an easier path to growth.
