Serious question: What’s a job that still feels deeply human, unautomatable, or just oddly future-proof to you? I’m not looking for comfort, just perspective.

A job where people rely on you and when it all comes together everyone is happy. It could be during a sales motion, there are lots of people from different BUs working towards a common goal.

People joke about Michael Scott from the office, but he has some great perspectives, one of which is "people will never go out of business".

Even today where there is direct and obvious "threat" in the form of AI. Being able to work with people is and always will be important as at some level people are your customers, and this aspect will never go away.

Now "deeply human" is subjective.

Of course you can try to automate your sales pitch (see advertising), but human to level communication, with empathy and compassion is something that will only shine brighter.

I just accepted an offer in writing. The new job will start the background check next which I’ve been told it may take a while to complete. My start date at the new job isn’t until 2023 so there is some time for me to turn in my notice. I don’t anticipate any hiccups in the background check but is it wise to wait until the background check is complete before turning in my notice?

Have a crush on my co-worker. He asked me out to go rock climbing one-on-one after we were texting for a while and I acted awkwardly when we went because I didn’t know if it was a date (nothing was explicitly said). Now I’m stuck in this weird limbo state where things have fizzled out but I’m re-reading texts and think he might’ve actually had a crush too and I pushed him away. Ambiguity sucks.

Homeowners- how did you decide what neighborhood to buy in? I love the Arlington area (rosslyn thru ballston), but my husband would rather have more of the city experience. I’m open to seeing other neighbors but this is my wishlist:
- 1. clean, safe neighborhood - 2. Neighborhood with trees and decent shot at parking (and cheaper than Georgetown $14 parking). - 3. Cute & more upscale shops and restaurants. Do any DC neighborhoods fit this?

Additional Posts in Ask A Recruiter - Tech

Are there any recruiters who are currently actively looking to fill roles within start-up like companies? I have a background in accounting/compliance and was wondering if there were any start up companies within open roles in that space. Additionally, I’m also looking to connect with recruiters who are looking to fulfill account/compliance roles in general. Okay please reach out if you can help me get visibility with your clients. Thank you!

When you recruiters say at the end of a 15 min call.
“I will get back to you by the end of this week” does that really mean “your not right for this position”? Because this whole thing is a waste of time. I’ve did these calls with 3 recruiters and is yet to hear back from someone. Today would be the 4th recruiter that I’ve spoken to. Does this practice annoy you guys just as much as it does us? My dream career is to be a technical recruiter but this whole thing is discouraging.
