Should I genuinely cross MBB off my list if I went to a T30 and not M7?

Not necessarily, as long as your experience is relevant that’s what matters. Is it harder to be recognized? Of course, but they hire based on experience and interview performance- academic pedigree, while a consideration isn’t a deciding factor

Non target school, not the greatest GPA and here I am. They are looking for smart people and problem solvers who are curious, structured and bring good energy to their teams.. school doesnt matter anymore.
You can do it!

Nope

Nah if your resume is strong enough otherwise you can get an interview. And once you get an interview it’s the same playing field as anyone else.

You shouldn't cross MBB off altogether, but you should be realistic. Maybe your chances are now 1 in 20 instead of 1 in 5.

No

No. T2 and MBB took like 10 people from DAs and NOn-das from KPMG last year. It’s totally possible

The job market has changed. It is not as hot as it was 6-9 months ago. Everyone was poaching and hiring from all firms. Not in same position right now with many firms preparing for recession and pipeline drying up.

Currently 26F, I just switched careers after graduating from bschool in Dec 2021 so it’ll be awhile but McKinsey has been the big dream.

what is T30 / M67?

MBA rankings.
M7 = top 7
T30= top 30

If a firm has multiple openings that you’re interested in, is it a good or bad idea to apply to more than one position? I’m a third year interested in retooling from lit to general corp, but they prefer someone with 3+ years of corporate experience. They’re also looking for an M&A with 1+ years, so it may be easier to aim for that, but I’ve heard horror stories re WLB for M&A. Would still try it out tho bc I’m desperate to leave lit, but don’t want to make a faux pas. Any insights appreciated!
