No. It’s not interesting work.
If you’re coming out of school, no. Don’t do it
I have a MIS degree as well, tax tech is not related to what we do at all. You’re going to want to work on the consulting side. But if you don’t have any offers I’d say take it, Deloitte on the resume is the same for everyone. Nobody will ever know what you did, it will open up a lot of exit opportunities for you 1 year out
You can build a network on the consulting side so you can eventually interview for a consulting role
Hmm. If you are not interested in the role, then do not accept it. You'll feel lost along the way.
Not sure why I can’t reply to ur comments D1 and M1, but can you guys elaborate why? Would I be pigeonholed into a career in tax tech? For reference I have an MIS degree, did a previous internship in product management and also risk advisory at deloitte (thought that was boring so I turned down the return offer)
It looks like you have a student account. Student accounts cannot DM and they can't reply directly to comments. Unfortunately student accounts have limited access.
I am also not interested in tax at all, but my interviewer told me I can build up technical skills like implementation stuff, gathering requirements, etc
@Manager 1, why not out of school? Do u currently work in tax tech?
I’ve been in tax tech for about 5 years and depending on what you want in life, understanding the core business you are building stuff matters and will distinguish you from other average tech people. That being said, I think you would want to go to an industry you are interested and learn from while utilizing your tech skills unless you want to do pure tech roles unrelated to the underlying industry I.e. data warehousing
