Silly question. How do you network with alumni who are within the same field as you (with goal of eventually getting a referral)? What do you ask and talk about?

I have a recurring thought that really brings me down and I can’t seem to get past it.
Some days I feel I am pretty good at what I do (not a leadership role) but then I see leaders in my own organization that are great at what they do and I don’t believe that I could ever get to their level of competence. Then I think of all the people my age who are appear to be doing those things and wonder we what’s wrong with me.
Have any of you felt this and how have you gotten past it?

Getting married in September, have a vax only policy for guests. So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me.
