Microsoft is hiring an account executive and I’m really interested in the role. I have B2B sales experience in a different industry, but my skills include lead generation, prospecting, account management, negotiating, etc (all within the C Suite and other decision makers).

Definitely apply (cause why not) but you should be realistic with a few things. Are you wanting to get into tech? Why the interest in this role? do you have any other skillsets or things you’ve done to start that movement to show your shift?
Since I don’t know your experience and that needed of the specific role, you have to assume there may be internal candidates going for it so that’s your competition along with external folks who have tech backgrounds. Saying this cause part of being successful in these roles is your overall fit and the why…cause sales roles are not easy…lots of pressure so you do have to be comfortable with the products as well so the core experience may not be enough unless it’s tech related.

I would say you've got a shot, it's very possible for people to pivot into different industries.
However your lack of technical knowledge may give others a competitive edge in the hiring process. You don't need to be technical, but understanding technical terminology may go a long way.
Give it a shot!
