Simon Law Group is a great place to work! I have been working here for 9 years as a family law attorney. We have a wonderful professional staff, where everyone gets along well together and supports each other. The office consists of seven attorneys handling diverse matters, and seven paralegals/receptionist. The office is constantly growing in order to best represent our expansive client list. We all work together to give our clients first-class representation.

The week of my wedding, my husband (PL SQL Developer 4 yoe) was laid off. That was a couple of weeks ago. Luckily I'm still bringing money in as a software engineer, but I'm looking for advice on how to support a partner who has been laid off. Ultimately I think we will be ok, but I know he's hurting / stressed / and could use a supportive partner.

Went on a bachelorette trip where the maid of honor was very anal, she made us do bi-monthly check ins with slides/agenda/itinerary since last year. We even had to share outfit pictures of exactly what we would be wearing, we got a dress code (color, length of dress, types of accessories), how to make the bride stand out, and tips on how to take pictures a certain way to flatter the bride. Now she’s going to be joining my office too, im scared I’ll have to see her often and socialize

What do you do when you feel the goalpost has been/is being moved re: billable requirements? Like there's a spoken vs unspoken? I chose this job based on billables vs salary and what I'm being told I'm expected to do now is 20-30% (at least) > than what was initially agreed upon. Given my other life responsibilities, this is creating a huge strain & I feel like this is slowly getting harder & harder on my spouse & kids. I'm grateful to have lots of good work but not sure how to course correct.

How many billable hours per week is considered at capacity? I’m getting pushback on boundaries I’m setting about additional matters and marketing work from my firm when I’ve been billing 60-75 hours per week for the last 6 weeks, and I’m still behind on my work. I feel like it’s reasonable to not kill myself further to fit in more/turn things around faster at this point, but am I being unreasonable? I expect my workload to remain at this level through the end of the year at least.
