You have to identify the priority you want to serve and make the choice with that as your reference point. Traveling as a consultant is a grind regardless of relational and child status. When you look at the future what do you want to be true of the choices you made; identify one step you can take this week to start moving in that direction. The reality is that it is difficult to right size the balance question you have identified above, it is not a simple answer. When I was in a long distance relationship the grind was the endless expectations we both placed on the weekends we would have together only to have each and every weekend crushed by the reality of the experience. I can only imagine adding in a kid to that mix and how difficult it would be. The answer is in the little steps though, let yourself dream on that future then make the first/second/third choice that starts to mold your life towards the future you hope for.
