So I recently lateraled into a V10 firms from V20 last year (third year). I am used to getting pretty simple "thank you all" emails on a minor closing / a bit longer acknowledgement on major closing/ sometimes penalty dinner on gruesome closings. Here, I got zero oneliner thank you note even after gruesome deals. Is this really a norm? It just seems a bit crazy to me - human to human- that you wouldnt take 5 seconds to appreciate the efforts of your team.

What is the obsession and appeal for MBB among MBA grads? Is it really that amazing - from afar it seems like it may be romanticized (maybe not the right word) among applicants. I know it’s way better than the work I do now, so I’m not knocking MBB at all. It’s super impressive. Maybe a better way to phrase it is that MBA applicants seem to have a fairy tale view of consulting as a whole. I get the impression that people think a job in consulting is a magic ticket anywhere

I feel left out in my firm. How do I make 'friends' with my colleagues? I've been here for a year. I am naturally not a very out going person, was never 'cool' and I struggle to speak in group situations / make engaging conversation with higher ups. Long story short, I regret choosing the office that I chose. I’d like to transfer to another office - is that a difficult ask? I’m licensed in the state I’d like to transfer to. Does anyone know if this is normal? I joined a vault 100 firm in September last year. The firm put me on tier 7. In January I had the associate review and everything was normal. After a couple of weeks, I got the call from the hiring partner telling my bonus and new salary (because of the firm-wide salary increase). I realized I still get paid as a 7 year associate. The partner said because I joined the firm later in the year, it’s normal not to advance in the next year. Is it? Thanks!

Hi, weird question for this forum, so I apologize. I’m trying to be creative here and use the tv stand that I have. The issue is that it has an open back so you can see all my tv wires. I can’t hide the wires because my building won’t let me open the wall. My idea was to slip a tile sheet that is wall behind the tv stand as a back, but I need the tile cut to the specific heigh and width of the tv stand. Does anyone know where I can take this tile sheet to get cut to the specific measurements?

Currently an associate at a V30 and negotiating a partnership position at another V30. What is the correct way to maximize the pay in the negotiation as a lateral partner? I’m afraid of settling at a lower price than what they can do at the top end of the range! Do I anchor by asking for an outrageous figure or let them offer a salary figure first?

Have an offer in hand in my market of choice, going to ask my firm if they will formally let me transfer to their NYO, and if not, I plan to put my notice in.
