So I’ve had a parent complain that I’m trying to influence their child with my perspectives even though we are analyzing rhetoric. What do you do when faced with this? Like I’m not going to tell your kid what to think but I am going to expose them to different perspectives than just white rural American!!

Let me tell you, I love the flexibility at my firm, OK pay, and I do a great job, and am comfortable pushing back when I have too much work . BUT managers are terrible at planning and recently end up putting me in preventable situations where I need to work 55 hrs or have the staff work the 55 hours. I have this feeling of “up and down” success with being actively Anti-Racist/Bias and working to foster that in other teachers.. some days I feel this pandemic can be an impetus for positive change (ex: names/numbers on a screen takes away some inherent or explicit bias some instructors have.)
Other days, I hear what teachers say and I feel like it is only strengthening negative stereotypes... anyone else have any insight?
