So we get food during our shift as a benefit and I feel like the food is pretty carb heavy. Lately I think I’ve gained a bit of weight with this food. Any tips on how to lose some weight when you’re always surrounded by food at a restaurant?

Yep, I used to eat fries on autopilot and wonder why I was crashing by 4pm. I now prep a salad or Greek yogurt with nuts and just grab a few bites of the shift food. Anything healthier and easier would work. I also started splitting portions or saving half for later, when I didn't bring something.Have you tried that yet?

Oh that’s so healthy of you! I wish I were organized enough to prep a salad before work. I get to work and then, yup, munch on greasy fried food… I should really work on splitting portions - That I can definitely try!

Is there a way to make it less carb heavy? For example, get the burger but toss the bun? Or try a salad? You can still eat but it doesn't always have to be so many carbs. That's what I do.

So true. It’s just that the tastiest food is greasy and fried! I need more self discipline. Maybe stick to salads - but they can get so boring…

I track everything in myfitnesspal. Not just for calories, but to make sure my macros are balanced and I'm getting enough fiber. It makes it a lot easier to portion control when I know I'll have to input everything.

Wow. That’s some dedication! Maybe I should try an app… it’s just so hard to control when I have food in front of me…

Meal prep and bring your own food. It isn't fun missing out, especially when the provided meals look delicious, but if you're serious about losing weight, you have to consistently pay attention to what you're putting in your body. MyFitnessPal is great for this. I use a macro calculator to figure out how much carbs/fat/protein I need to eat each day to lose weight, put that into MFP and then plan my meals accordingly.

Yeah I’m thinking I have to get serious about this weight control thing and just stop grazing on unhealthy food at work. I’ll try out the myfitnesspal app!

Hi everyone, I'm new to Canada and want to start my career here in the Financial and Banking industry. I have passed the CFA level 2 exam and was wondering if I have to complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) as most of the job postings here mention about it. I saw that if someone passes at least the CFA level 1 exam then the requirement of CSC is exempted. Can anyone enlighten me about this? As the CSC exam costs above 1000 CAD, I wanted to be sure if I need it before investing behind it.

I work as an AGM in a busy restaurant. Been working there for just over a year, and haven't had a single raise. I now only make 0.50 cents more than even the lowest paid shift lead but I am doing a lot more work. I'm no longer satisfied with these conditions. Should I try to negotiate a raise or look for other opportunities?

If I should negotiate, any tips?

So I work as an assistant manager at a restaurant for the past 9 months. I've worked in restaurants for the past 6 years science I was 16. Now I'm 22. I went to a trade school for media and film. I got a dream opportunity to work in the field making about the same or 10% more. I told myself the only reason I'd leave this company is for this type of job. Should I take the chance at this job and leave the restaurant that is on the rise and growing?
