Someone asked me this question and I was curious to hear this group’s thoughts?

What are specific qualities and skillsets we, women, wring to the table at work/ in business that we think are distinctive from our male counterparts ?

Emotional intelligence or just emotions generally, compassion. I mean this is obviously a generalization, but generally woman are stronger in these areas.

We use all of our brain.

smart

Listening, understanding the pain behind problems, making personal connections, and documenting what you heard (not in an admin asst way)

Patience and perseverance

Generally, I find we bring a more human aspect to work. That includes emotional intelligence, passion, understanding, etc. that others have mentioned. It’s not to say there aren’t men who do as well or women who don’t, but I find women in general tend to understand and cultivate the human elements of business and work better than men.

I’m new to the firm. My third project my manager was very hands off. He’s wants to have a discussion with me about my performance. He did not give me any support to work with; even when I asked! And my direct manager agrees with him, but it was my third week. What to do? I feel like I’m going to say something crazy. Any advice?

What do I do if I’ve only worked one job (the one I’m currently at) and another company is asking for references? I could do professors from college but not sure if that’s a good idea. I wish I could give my current manager’s contact but I don’t want her knowing :/

What should I expect from my manager? I've stuck it out for a year now and all I'm ever told is to not make mistakes. Manager stated explicitly that he does not want to review or test my work. Any attempts at discussion of why I made a mistake are dismissed by him as me making excuses. I never get any positive feedback. I somehow manager to make it a few months without making any errors but I missed a small detail in a large project and my 1on1 went terribly because of it. Is this common?

DE&I is now a core leadership competency. If you are managing diverse talent, it’s important to understand what the term “privilege” means within a DE&I context so you can lead your team to higher levels of inclusivity+develop optimal strategies for solutioning around team issues/challenges. Everyone has some aspect of privilege depending upon the context. Privilege means the absence of obstacles/barriers, not necessarily the presence of perks. Though some would say *that* itself is a perk.

Hello All - I struggle with time management. I take medication but I have no idea whether a task will take 40 mins or 4 hours. Because of this, I over commit and under deliver. Any resources to help the brain structure tasks and make better estimates? Much appreciated, thanks!
