I’m new to the firm. My third project my manager was very hands off. He’s wants to have a discussion with me about my performance. He did not give me any support to work with; even when I asked! And my direct manager agrees with him, but it was my third week. What to do? I feel like I’m going to say something crazy. Any advice?

Can someone help me understand: the person I report to asked me what I was working on and I provided a list of projects on my plate. Then I took a few days off, the first day I’m back, she asked me again about the status of those same projects. I’m sitting here scratching my head. Is this an example of micro-managing?

Y’all ever offered a kill fee as, like, a token of gratitude/enticement to stick with the project when a schedule was dragging on but you knew you needed to bid/treat to get the job in shape, but also knew you’d have to pause before awarding and potentially revise bids/treatments again? Tell me your stories! And, how much of a kill fee seems reasonable here?

Hi! I was presented with a project where the client is an online betting and gambling company. I would be supporting the HR function, so not directly involved in the money making side of things. Would you take this project? While I don't think gambling/games of chance in it of itself is bad/sinful (my family will play cards with small amts of $ now and then for fun) - comes down to the individual's motive/heart, I do hesitate here because of the impact gambling can have (addiction, etc)...cont

What is the advice on what feedback to leave for a peer who really sucks at everything y'all have worked together on? It's about the time where everyone on my team requests feedback from each other and I'm nervous for it coming up. My manager knows that everything I've worked w her on I end up doing 90% of the work when it's meant to be split so it is a known issue. We're both at level 3 so are genuinely peers. My ASM is lazy and is incapable of doing the easiest basic tasks with recruitment. She receives all my end of day updates, is cc’d on all emails, makes me fill out 5 repetitive excel/smart sheet, and joins all my meetings but she still wants to call having me 5x daily about updates. I am currently a Senior Forensic Accountant at a public accounting firm but we mainly handle commercial damage calculations, business valuations, and SOME investigations that one might think of as “was there fraud?
