Someone escalated to my boss that two of my direct reports didn’t attend one of their mtgs. They were both on PTO. She never asked me directly, only immediately escalated after 1st occurrence. She tells others to assume positive intent, but her own behavior is the opposite. Now she’s started micromanaging my calendar, telling me who to include and exclude on my own project mtgs. Demands to see my project results before others. How do you handle these entitled people? Feel exhausted by Takers…

Ugh I HATE micromanaging bosses. Building trust can sometimes help but often I’ve had to switch teams or change jobs to find better managers. Some people just refuse to butt out. Sounds super annoying

OK. Take the weekend and get super relaxed, strong, and confident. Do not let this person come into your space. Don’t be nasty, but be very calm and direct. Simply state that you have your team under control. Any comments feedback should come directly to you.

Stay strong and exude you’re bad ass energy to not let this person cross your boundaries.

My natural instinct is to assume rejection if I have conflict with a partner or don’t think my feelings are reciprocated. I’ll try to bring it up with them, but I’ll say “if you want to end this feel free” so it doesn’t hurt me (and they can say what they really mean instead of sugarcoating). Someone told me today that they just assume I’m not interested because I always seem to “run” but I’m not sure how to bring up problems/feelings otherwise. How do you approach these hard questions?

What should I reasonably expect from a junior?

I manage a junior developer that's been with the company for about 18 months. I end up providing them of TON of support. I need to give them extremely detailed instructions or they fail. For bugs, I need to point them to a specific function that's causing the bug. For new features, I'm basically writing their method signatures and defining their test cases.

I've tried asking them to do more on their own, but when I do, they fail spectacularly.

I am seriously worried. I am doing my co-op and my supervisor is not giving me an easy time.
