I wouldn’t disagree with that completely, but would rephrase: they are in competition with some elements of ZS’ business. If it’s work that’s all the way downstream and operational, it makes more sense to compete on price. But, if we’re doing a market assessment for acquiring a new molecule, patient segmentation for the marketing team, advising on commercial org design, etc. we’d never entertain Axtria as a competition
They do analytics, a lot of SAS work. I see them at my clients and I have not been impressed with their knowledge of the markets in which they are doing analytics. Smaller version of Cognizant.
Damn too much noise on ZS VS. Axtria. I have worked in both companies 5 years in ZS and few months in Axtria.
Both companies are good to work in there own way.
Quality of people: I believe both have the same set of folks as I see lot of folks moving from axtria to ZS and ZS to Axtria.
Overall industry experience: I believe ZS has more experience given it’s 30+ years in market vs. Axtria is fast growth company with 10+ years in market and is catching up.
Positions: I just landed to C in 5 years with masters in USA. I will say the growth is slow in ZS ( fastest is 2 years if you perform really well, good is 2.5 years, average now has become 3 years and I know people who took 3.5 years to move from AC to C. On an average 5.5-6 years to move from Associate to consultant.
In Axtria roles are multiple level - 9 levels vs in ZS its 6 levels. In comparison I will say a consultant in ZS gets a manager position in Axtria. And the roles are almost same of what you do in ZS vs. Axtria.
Salary: I have to give it to ZS as they pay a bit more than axtria.
Consultant salary is ~$140k vs Manager is ~$135k in Axtria.
Work life balance: personally I felt it’s way better in axtria compared to ZS. However different people have different experiences. ( I stay in a community with 50 plus ZSers with two being my roommate and most of them are unhappy with work life life)
Projects: I know someone mentioned they did clean up on axtria projects. I heard the wise versa in recent days with projects going from ZS at multiple clients - specially on the commercial side. ( ZS Javelin getting replaced with Axtria sales iq tool for Alignment, territory design, Roster, Call plan, reporting etc.)
Note: I love both the companies and had good time working with ZS as well as having good time in Axtria.
ZS1 is exactly right. They have a small onshore presence with inflated titles to give clients the impression that they’re getting senior talent, but everything is done in India. Rates are much lower, and my clients have generally relayed that they get what their paid for
I’ve cleaned up after them twice now. Lower cost and lower quality - compete in measurement and analytics but not strategy
We’ve worked with them on launches before, they do a lot of sales force targeting and alignment. Never worked with their consulting though.
Gotcha. Senior at PWC to Manager at this firm doesn't make sense right? They said on the phone call that they are in direct competition with ZS.
OP I can't speak to compensation comparisons but the manager I met from Axtria was essentially just translating business rules into SAS code for their team. Did not seem like a strategic or valued partner to the client. They are only in direct competition with ZS because they attempt to undercut us on price substantially.
Alright thanks ZS folks. They have been misleading in how they market themselves. One of the things they said and I quote "ZS is very MBA heavy, we differentiate ourselves through superior tech skills". :D
On a side note, where would a senior from PwC land at say ZS? What's the hierarchy? I am 4 yrs exp in healthcare and MS CS, currently at 122k tier 2 city.
4 yrs is AC territory. If you impressed as an AC out of the gate-- C in 1 to 1.5 years. Personally I would feel like 4 years is borderline C, but ZS is conservative with lateral hires.
Alright thanks. Would 135-140k tier 2 city realistic for C or AC at ZS? And what is the progression from there?
135 for C yes. ACs probably max out in the 120 range. 2-4 years at C before M, min 3 more often 4-5 years to AP from M. 1-3 from AP to P.
I was a C after 4 years of internal rise. I think with Masters and relevant work experience you would have solid chance at C. I think it's harder to argue for fast track than for initial hire to C level. For record, I am currently an M and conduct interviews.
What do Associate Partners make at ZS (salary and bonus)? Also, has any movement been made with their healthcare ecosystem practice?
