Funny. I’ve read several times on this ap that $600k was starting for PWC partners. Said with conviction by PWC partners. Something about everyone starting out about the same regardless of business affiliation, etc. Are you saying this is wrong?
Would mean that Audit partners make a lot more over their careers than others, given they get made much younger. Which makes sense at a firm as good at Audit as PW.
They are neither in appearance nor principle non-equity partners but we make them RLs as many are senior, valued leaders and SMEs. Many also go on to make partner. Most don’t, but I wouldn’t say it’s very rare. In some practices (CMAAS….) you often have to do it, in most, you don’t and then you’re absolutely correct that MD is a higher-paying, non-partner track role. We also have MDs who can’t make partner/principal who make more than many - if not most - partners (ie Corp Fin LLC)
This is what I meant. In terms of responsibilities MDs are more similar to Partners than Directors.
4-500K for first year partners is typical. Average salary is about 1 million. No one knows the range or the median because they don’t share that data.
You get nothing.
It’s very rare for an MD to make partner at PwC. They’re basically non equity partners that won’t be partners. The path to partner at PwC is through Director.
And I think realistically the attractiveness falls the closer to 50 you get.
Interesting thread. Do we know how Partner compensation varies and ranks between PWC, EY and Deloitte? Would a PWC partner make significantly more than an EY Partner?
400 is a bit low and no one will go for it. How much do you have to buy in? I’m expecting 600-700 range

EY seems to be around 400 fyi
But at EY there is no MD tour before you get Partner. Not sure but think PWC requires it. Would be informative to see where a fourth year EY partner lines up pay-wise to a first year PW or KP partner.
No MD tour required. In fact is abnormal in most all practices but is cultural in some.
OP, which firm? Are you moving from SM to P?
We all do ok and it depends on the year
$600k base for MD at PwC. Worth the move? Thought this might be low. What’s the high range that people are aware of for MD coming from outside?
