Would it be just the election years (2020, 2024) or does it include the time in between?? Because getting a job has been tough for awhile- I'm curious to hear how that would correlate with the election....
I'm also curious because I keep hearing about the "September job surge" but the only thing there's a surge of are more ghost postings

The two candidates have radically different economic policies, so yes.

A better economy brings higher advertising budgets and more advertising jobs.
Yes they do. It’s a big predictor for the economy and how businesses will move forward
Jobs in our industry aren’t coming back. Not in a significantly meaningful way. Maybe we see a slight uptick in hiring post election, but things aren’t ever going back to feeling healthy and normal like they did pre-Covid.
Our industry seems to be very cyclical in terms of jobs and even how “good” the ads are. I always look back on the Great Recession of 2008 - it took 3.5 years to actually go back to “normal.” 2008 and 2020 were both the end of a presidential term as well, granted 2008 didn’t have a global pandemic but you get the point. I guess I’m just trying to be optimistic based on past history.

Unfortunately it does.
Less about “good or bad,” but just that the economic priorities will shift depending on the winning candidate, so therefore corporate companies might need to adjust how they make their profits, which might ultimately affect marketing budgets.
You hear the concept of “confidence” used when the news discusses change. Like when something happens politically, and investors then have confidence in the economy, they feel better about making financial moves and then the stock market goes up.
So yes, it is possible that one outcome of the election could make companies feel better spending on advertising, and then agencies feel safer hiring.
However, advertising business models just aren’t what they were. Too much has changed over the last 3 decades. And I think, I guess really, that even if we feel a little momentum post election, it will be nowhere near as big as it would need to be to offset the hunger so many of us have.
It does have an impact on job creation- yes!
Of course, it depends on who wins.
Unless you work as a government contractor. Anyone who said that is giving you bullshit excuses and doesn’t know what they are talking about.
