Right. It’s extremely bad.
Transfer into Cyber
It’s quite some work but you have to establish a strong business case (relevant certs and experiences, great reviews, etc.). In addition, partner from the cyber side has to want to pull you in as he/she will be initiating the transfer process. This is all easier at the staff level but I’ve seen it happen in higher rankings too. Personally, I think the hardest is getting staffed on a project in another service line such as cyber but it is possible. If you want to learn more, feel free to DM.
Well sort of. Pivoted out of IT Audit into Project Management. So far so good
No niche. It’s all internal currently, probably within a year I’ll be more focused to one aspect

Moved into a SOC from IT audit
Trying to move to cyber
Managed to jump into cyber in fintech sector after 4 years in IT audit.
Moved to security compliance in a industry role and I love it .
Moved to Cyber analyst role (governance, risk, compliance) in fintech sector after 4 years.
It’s a combination of networking and timing. It turned out that the employer was in big need of someone with SOC audit experience and were willing to teach cyber on the job. Make yourself known and use the interviews you get as networking opportunities.
