Started looking at jobs in private accounting. I scored interviews for a Staff Accountant, Junior Accountant, and Accounting Assistant. I just finished interviewing for the Staff Accountant position which feels very much like AP/AR and Bank Recs to start, similarly to the other two positions. Does the title matter? I want to be able to grow but at the same time I want to make sure I’m moving up positions in my job search so I’m exposed to harder/higher level work.

I think title doesn’t matter. I think it matters more what type of company you’re working for. At some companies, you’ll find you have a fancy title but don’t do anything or have opportunities for growth or development. While at other companies you might have a not so fancy title, but have more opportunities for the growth and learning you’re seeking. So I think finding the right company fit is more important than title. Plus depending on company (speaking from Netflix experience) the less fancy title might have good comp than a fancy title at some mediocre company

I have a partner who routinely ignores emails or responds to them several weeks later. He has to approve every single document sent to the client or the court, which means you have a physically go to his office to ask him to review something. Half of the time you go to meet with him in person, he’s either on a call or otherwise busy. I find that this basically creates more work and makes meeting deadlines extremely difficult. Is this normal?
