Everyone i know at Dentsu agencies has been left in the dark and have no idea whats going on with the merger. Theres been very little communication.
I predict an exodus of what little talent is left.
Are any of the disciplines being engulfed or lost? Experiential production vs content production? Digital Account vs. Experiential Account for example. 360i Creative more influential than McGary?
Lots of creatives have or plan to leave. July is when raises and promotions finally happen since the pandemic. I bet many wait till they see those numbers and stay or bounce. It’s been hectic as we don’t have a good sense of what the company will look like once the merger is done. All processes take ages right now. Creative talent is just fleeing. Ppl are being forgotten and left behind. They say pay parity is being looked at big time but we all know that’s all talk. Ppl are working across agencies now. Me included. Which is kinda cool but also their processes are wack to me. I do think there are a lot of open roles though but personally I’d wait till after July once the pay parity analysis is done and in use. DEI seems to be a large focus. I have been told I for sure will get a promo/raise but that raise I fear won’t be enough to be competitive. Def want the title bump before I move though.
I don’t think layoffs are coming but that’s just my thought. They’ve been hemorrhaging talent. Even since I posted that so. Tbd. I will be asking for a big effing raise
In my market most of us don’t even know what business we work for. Seeing our names in decks for dentsu brands we barely know about. Messy and no creative focus.
Which market?
Does it differ between markets? I assume NYC HQ’s for brands take precedent over other markets through proximity.
Concur with everything CW1 says. If you are a creative please press skip. It is just not a creative network. Never was and not on track to be. Data and media rules. And Dentsu is doing the worst financially of all the holding companies so getting ahead personally is going to be tough. Lost a ton of business across agencies so the future is not bright . Now the hope is that Wendy Clark came in and will right the ship. But it is a tall task even for her. She is driving consolidation of brands and cost cutting. And bringing in a lot of her own people. Get real though. As I am am not sure anyplace is fun to work right now but this would be more than “least fun”. It is probably going to be pure misery. Give it a year or so and see where they land but I would never recommend anyone voluntarily choose it
I have heard there is a center axis of leadership now which takes away from the individualized, person approach of regional leadership within verticals. Are you noticing a lack of inclusion, not just in the DEI sense, but in the personal sense? For example, meetings and thought leadership you once took part in but now is just handed down to you from people that do not know your passions.
