If you live in Austin and you’re paying for a badge, you’re doing it wrong.

Way too many free events to be dinking around with badges.

Just RSVP to every free party out there and show up to a few.

No. You can get a discount if you do a group discount or are a student. Or if someone transfers their badge to you. There is a transfer fee though.

I worked there for almost 10 years. But it’s up to you whether or not to believe me.

You can get a free badge by volunteering. However I think the volunteering gig is not that fun and time consuming (I volunteered in 2021 when work was a bit slow and just worked night shifts). The badges get you access to official talks at convention center etc. and some badge only events.

I think the music badge is worth it if you buy right after SXSW ends ($500) and gets you into everything. I’m just doing a music wristband this year. SXSW last year and I suppose this year too will be kinda meh due to recession and corporates pulling back $ on installations. Also we no longer have the crypto money throwing lavish events.

I got a badge one year for music, and still ended up standing in line or turned away because VIPs got priority. Won’t ever do that again. For local folks, join free SXSW activities. Daytime strolling downtown is really fun with lots of giveaways and pop-ups.

Back in 2013 I had a badge, I was waiting to get in for a big act I wanted to see the most, and I was turned away in line bc they were at capacity. Haven’t even tried to go since then but I would imagine it’d be even more crowded and less worth it now

Nice places to live downtown for under $1600 per person? I’m seeing like 3 apartments that fit that price range

My partner and I bought our home back in 2020. We got a good deal, low rate. But we want to move into a more spacious SFH. However, as we all know this market is crazy. Everything we want costs $620k+ and bc of rates it makes our mortgage estimates $3500+. We are currently paying $2k. And it looks we need to sell the house simultaneously as look for a new one or our contingency isn’t as attractive. I know it’s based on personal circumstances. But what would you do? - not move, sell and buy?

I rented a house that had been vacant for a bit & the prior tenant didn’t do a thorough job cleaning up. Agent indicated the owner would be open to having the house cleaned but I would need to have the house professionally cleaned when I moved out (that was fine w me). I just received the bill from the owner for $250, which is super annoying bc there was no expectation communicated that I would foot the bill for this, more so bc the cleaner did a LOUSY job.
