Sorry, can't talk you out of it. Buy it and let us live vicariously through you.
Do it. Seems like you live within your means. Bought a 992.1 TTS last year and loving it.
You need it. It’s the best decision you will ever make. I bought a 992 two months ago and already put close to 3k miles on it🙂.
Do it. Just keep something you can drive in the winter too
Yeah, can’t lie, that possibility has flashed through my head 😂
I want to talk you out of it, steal your idea, and buy the car. But I can’t. You seem like you love the car. Do it and love it, you magnificent b*stard.
Come here to say, with another set of winter tires/wheels you can easily drive it in winter as well. Just go wash off the salt regularly in a touchless car wash to prevent corrosion.
My 992.2 Carrera T is coming this late fall. The first thing I’ll do is to swap in a set of winter tires and wheels and drive it everywhere.
A Porsche is meant to be daily driven
I used to daily a 996tt in NJ. I had no issues with it. I’d keep it stock though. It’s great as is
I would not daily a 996. I used to daily a manual 996 C4, putting about 2-4k miles per year. Sold it and replaced with a more conventional daily and I haven’t regretted it one bit. It was too slow, too small/tight, too stiff. Maybe a 991 or 992 would be ok to daily as they’re softer GTs.
If you’re shopping for emotion, feel, character, then high on my list would be cars like…
- C6 Z06
- Any V8 AMG sedan, coupe, or convertible
- Jag F Type
- Performance versions of American muscle cars.. e.g. Camaro ZL1, Mustang GT350. Heck, even a 6.4L Challenger is an emotional drive
- E92 M3
- several Cadillac sedans with the blown 6.2L
- maybe even an Alfa Romeo, God Forbid…
Any of these have more soul than a 996.
Cars are meant to be driven, you got the means so do it
