The store brand = name brand a lot of times at the grocery store. Always buy the cheapest.

Depends on the product, in my experience. Butter seems to be identical; Oreo cookies aren’t.

Depends on the store? I’m not buying Walmart toilet paper, but I will buy Kirkland toilet paper at Costco.

Q-Tips are not.

I've never enjoyed store brand steak sauce, soda, or chips. Willing to pay extra for the quality but I am also frugal so I just buy them when they are on sale and go without when not which is probably better for me anyway.

Yes but Wegmans has good store brands on these items. All other store brands don’t cut it.

The store brand is occasionally the name brand. Even when coming off the same line, it's usually cheaper materials. Take batteries - though less frequent now that Chinese batteries are common, they're still often name brand, but they reduce the chemicals per battery

Especially true with over the counter medicines. If you ever compare the active ingredients, the generic brand almost always matches the name brand.

Generic OTC medications like Tylenol are very tightly regulated and the FDA aggressively monitors their manufacturing and quality. So I wouldn’t hesitate with store brand. The other stuff like sunscreen, body wash, etc isn’t regulated though

Kroger branded items have been pretty good. Kirkland brand at Costco is legendary

Trader Joe’s yogurt is Stonyfield Farm. Once saw a case show up at another grocery store; got stocked where the Stonyfield goes.

Heinz ketchup is unmatched and should be mandatory at every restaurant.

My assumption is that one makes money in RE with leverage. So, would you never let your equity in any given property get above certain% (I.e re-leverage and invest elsewhere) or would one eventually want to own a property outright?

I would like some advice here. I currently work as an HRBP for a large company and have been with this company for over 2 years. The current company culture is not great, and I’ve been looking for outside opportunities.
I was offered a role at a smaller company that just announced it is being acquired by a large company, however they agreed that they will be operating independently.
Would it be incredibly stupid to start a new HR job at a company currently going through an acquisition?

How would you rate the freelance market at the moment? I’ve recently quit fulltime, and beyond a couple of my own (LLC) short client projects - I’ve had zero agency freelance over the summer.
I have 10 years exp (2.5 as CD on well known brands) at respected agencies, and some awards.
What am I doing wrong? I left FT to address some long term burnout, but now I’m afraid if this continues - I’ll have to go back full time, without even snagging a FL gig. 🫤

Hi all, I am trying to DCA bi-weekly into Vanguard ETFs, (VO, VTI etc). It seems like Fidelity does not support auto buying of non-Fidelity ETFs. So I was wondering which of these options you think is best?

1. Open a Vanguard Invest account
2. Look for Fidelity ETFs that are similar to Vanguard ETFs
3. Use smaller brokerages like SoFi l, Robinhood etc.

I really do not want to manage nor be active. My goal is to log-in like once every 6 months.

Thank you all.

If I have 6+ months of expenses in investments in a brokerage account, do I need an emergency fund? Totally clear on the purpose of an emergency fund, but a brokerage account seems pretty liquid and the market would need to crash to a significant level to a point where I could no longer rely on this to liquidate and live off of if needed. Is it crazy to put my emergency fund to work by buying VOO with plan for a long time hold?
