The uncomfortable truth about company loyalty in marketing:
After 2 years, your raises are capped at 3-5%. External moves? 15-25% jumps.
I've watched talented marketers stay 4-5 years "waiting for the right opportunity" — and leave making what they would've earned 2 years earlier if they'd just moved.
The math doesn't lie. Your employer knows your number. They're betting on your comfort.
How long is too long at one company?

The numbers can play out that way, but there are other factors to consider. An employer may be betting on your comfort, but in a lot of cases the reason for staying may involve more than simply comfort. For instance, if you're working on projects that are meaningful, or a client that's prestigious, that can be a reason to stay. Every career story is different, and sustained time put in at some places may pay dividends down the road.

My last two external jumps were for 50-60% don’t count yourself short.

Wow. This is so encouraging did you spend under two years in the previous roles?

Loyalty was something that was valued in my parent's time, but it hasn't been the case in my 15 year career. The best way to maximize your salary and your career potential is by being willing to change jobs frequently. I always keep an eye on job ads, but I usually start seriously looking after two years at one job.

Should I leave my first permanent job as a team leader of 4 DPs in a FMCG business (only been there for 4 months) to join a huge Tech business for a 12months contract?

They offer me 60% more money than my permanent role. Circa 2000 dollars every month in my pocket

However, I am worried if I accept the tech role and I do not become permanent I will be looking again for a job in 12-24 months and my CV won't be showing a managerial position. Won't be showing any progress.
