There are five things you can change to overcome Burnout.

1) Behavior
2) Beliefs
3) Habits
4) Routine
5) Self

Notice that these five are all about you? You can only change what you can control and that starts with your inner work.

So excited to find this bowl. I have a question for lady 🐠 in particular. How did you know you had ADHD?
I’ve been seeing a therapist for anxiety and depression (no medication). It’s been helpful, but my issues persist. After some more research, I realized that both can be connected to ADHD. Im pretty high functioning, but definitely resonate with some of the symptoms. Any stories or thoughts from you all?

Anyone have any stories of their worst burnout feeling?

As you grow with your company and take on more responsibilities, delegation becomes MANDATORY to be effective in your role.

Just don't confuse delegation as an excuse to get away from tasks while you don't work on anything important. Rather, use it to grow efficiently by working on the most important tasks while others help you.

If you are working hard at something you believe is important, but others (e.g., your boss, clients, customers) do not align with it, you will burn yourself out faster.

Make sure you align with the beliefs of every stakeholder of your work.

When you have those tasks that seem never-ending, maybe even repetitive, possibly a multi-day effort (or any other long periodic timeframe), set an "acceptable-for-you" limit where you would feel accomplished when you reach it.

Then, determine your energy levels and decide if you can/want to do more or call it a day.

Example: Setting a limit to how much daily progress you want to make towards a 10-15 page final deliverable for your client.

Do you know any professionals who like to "dip their toes" into many things and can't commit to what is expected of them?

If you cannot execute on producing good quality work, don't take on a new task/role. You will exhaust yourself, and your work effort will reflect badly on the stakeholders. They will also communicate to others accordingly.

Are you living in the moment?

People say this all the time, but do you know what that means or how to do it?

Living in the moment, or being present, means you are mindful and enjoying what is happening right now and not distracted by the distant past or future worries.

Being present is HARD because our mind likes to wander.

Here are 4 key themes of people who live (and thrive) in the present moment:

1. Focus on your breath
2. Be curious
3. Find your flow
4. Forgive yourself and others

There are many common symptoms of Burnout. E.g., Changes in sleeping patterns, negativity, low energy, lack of motivation, not caring about work. The list can go on for a while.

But they all fall under the umbrella of three major symptoms:

1. Exhaustion
2. Cynicism
3. Professional Efficacy

Are you ignoring your symptoms? If not, which one do you have?

Hi all! I'm putting together a list of the top 5 reasons for Burnout by different professions (e.g., Corporate workers, Entrepreneurs, Social Workers). For corporate workers, I have the following:

1. Working Long Hours
2. Too Many Tasks
3. Constantly Thinking About Work
4. Lack of Support To Complete Work Or For Mental/Emotional Peace Of Mind
5. Insufficient Rewards For Work Performance

Do you agree with the order? Should I include something else in the top 5? Would appreciate any feedback!

A majority of society tends to stick around to things because they are influenced by "enough" people doing something similar. Hence, they start living someone else's life instead of theirs.

Think about what you want for yourself, what's important, what you value. Then, ask yourself. Do I have these things? Am I living by the things that are important to me?

Whom you surround yourself with is a choice, just like everything else in your life.

Don't underestimate the strength you can gain from having the right people by your side who genuinely support you through good times and bad. You shouldn't make space for people who bring constant negativity.

When I was managing consulting projects, I told my teams that they should feel free to communicate with me if they had any issues or concerns. However, I also wanted their ideas about what they would do to solve the issue they are raising.

Situations can get "extreme," or small issues may arise when you are in the heat of the moment trying to accomplish your goals. That's normal.

But to change the pattern and prevent Burnout, you need to communicate with an action.

Burnout is because you did something consistently for an extended period. You can do quick fixes like go on vacation, get some sleep, exercise more. But they may only help temporarily, depending on your level of Burnout.

Try adjusting your approach to work / life to a more sustainable, and ideally, enjoyable balance.
