There’s this elderly guy from the neighborhood who would stop by every single morning just to stir up arguments with paying customers. Politics, football, local news, you name it, he’d pick a fight. He never bought anything. I’d have to toss him out, only for him to show up the next morning and do it all over again. Like sir, do you not have a hobby besides causing chaos?
Some days it felt like I was running a debate club instead of a store!!!

My Grandma used to do things like this. She was lonely, and had a very unhealthy grasp of how to cope with that. Starting arguments with people was her way of keeping attention on her, while also being able to justify to herself that she is lonely because other people are "stupid." It's a sad way to live.

Yeah, sometimes people just act out because they don’t know how else to cope.

Dude sounds like a cool guy and you sound ungrateful.

Hard to tell if you’re joking or not

Not to stereotype or generalize, sometimes the elderly are a bit tunnel-visioned in their ways. Many have a lot of time in retirement and just no idea how to spend it.

True, boredom mixed with stubbornness is a tough combo!

Sounds like he made arguing his full-time job. At least debate club pays in snacks!

Back when I was getting started in the food world, I worked flipping burgers at In-n-Out. A man came in and said the burgers he had gotten weren’t right. He dumped the food on the counter and then he started throwing them back behind the counter. We gave him a refund and then his demeanor completely changed. He was calmer and he told us to have a great day as he left us to clean up the mess he made.

Once when I was waiting tables, I had a guy pay me cash. The change was 45 cents, which I didn't give back to him because like who wants that. He then asked where the change was, and when I explained that I didn't give back the loose change, he made a big stink about how dollars and cents matter and didn't leave me a tip. He was a republican staffer on capitol hill.
