Came in as a manager. Have tons of experience. Finding projects and even proposals is difficult because Deloitte runs on networks and Experienced hires come in with often a lot of experience but no network. People who grow up in the firm easily build their networks and end up on “go to” lists for a lot of things. Nobody is rushing to call an experienced hire with no network when they are staffing their project. It’s a real challenge.
100%. I have been an EH M for 3 1/2 years. In absolutely no rush to hit SM this year, I’d like to be very well prepared for that jump into sales revenue mode.
Came in as an SC, wanted M.
Honestly, glad it worked out that way. Was able to learn the way Deloitte did things and had time to network and settle at the firm before leading engagements.
Got promoted to M this year and feel like I have a future here if I want it.
Bowl Leader
I came in as an M. I would have never left my previous role for SC but it may have been easier to come in at that level. My journey has been a bit of a struggle due to my first project being shitty. Hopefully I catch my stride as I enter year 2.
I am in the same boat as you and hope things get better for you! I am planning my escape route because this is not normal...
1. Manager
2. Doing well... found a good rhythm and good tribe
3. Struggled at first... doing better now
Same. Exp hire SMs almost always fail because of a network challenge
Came in as an M, super happy I did not join as an SM. Can’t wait to move to SC and eventually back out of this industry. All the Ivy League gusto from the young ones is blistering my sails. Glad to have the experience though. Just not waiting for that mystical promotion to provide me with fulfillment and satisfaction in life.
Coming in as a SC. Thought I was qualified for M but honestly they did a good comp match and bow I get to kill it as a SC and build my network before I make it to M.
1. Consultant
2. Doing ok, could have been better, could have been worse as well.
3. It was easy
I came in as C, really wanted SC. In retrospect, glad they brought me in at C. And glad they didn’t promote me in 9 months. I’ve absolutely killed it as an SC and want that early promotion to M, though.
Sure!
Our group tends to bring people in up a level and I think our turnover is high because of it.
Came in as a C when I was a SC elsewhere. It was easy. Now I'm a SC and it's just proposals everyday.
Came in as SpM was ok recruiting want me at SpL, glad that did not happen. Happy where I am will promote up in a couple of years
