They want to force us back to the office, then make the office unbearable so we quit? I’d love to know what their backup plan is when attrition goes up but things still need to get done. Are they actually hiring replacements or just hoping the work magically disappears? Anyone already feeling the impact of this?

I’ve long disliked the term ethics. Definitions of ethics all refer to morals. Morals are very personal and vary a lot from person to person, culture to culture. Law is how we as a society express our preferences and impose rules and restrictions on ourselves. So the question should never be about whether companies can be ethical. What does that mean? One person thinks eating meat is unethical, another thinks it’s perfectly ethical. Companies should focus on complying with the law.

I just got news that my clearance for a DoS internship was bumped to secret not TS because it’s remote, which sort of ruined a lot of plans for prospective jobs after. I’m a current masters student and an ISIS research intern.

Been asked by a client to apply for a GS14 term position but I have a few questions/concerns.
1. Current salary is 140K with ~10K variable comp. If I wanted to at least match, it would require me to be in Step 5/6— is that possible/likely or would I have to start at Step 1?
2. How often have you seen term positions converted to permanent? I’m considering turning this offer down due to this.
