I think it depends what you try to be. To me there are two types of project managers, ones that track status and report on status and ones that actively engage with teams and understand dynamics.
The lather ones are the types that have the ability to look around the corner and forecast hiccups and understand potential blockers from undercurrents between stakeholders. These type of managers to me are invaluable and are people that will grow to do amazing things.
However if you are just there to learn how to make a pptx with status updates and create a RAG excel sheet I think it’s not really worth it.
