Thinking about taking a manager role at KPMG in their Strategy and Private Equity practice. Any thoughts? Is it a good group? Good people? Good career progression potential? Exit opportunities? Do you have flexibility to pick projects or do different types of deals/diligence?

The firm soft fired its last leadership team (disguised as transitions to A&M) in order to bring on the EYP partners.

The firm is generally shifting away from diligence type of work on the Strategy team (shuttering its CDD team, etc.) so it is a tricky place to be. Not saying they aren’t hiring, the EYP folks still need junior support, but no longer a high growth function for the firm with leadership support, other than more functional support on a deal such as PMO, IT, etc., as that is now where the firm wants to play.

Not exactly accurate. Focus has been to move away from (only) being attach to FDD and into hold period value creation and moving up from lower MM PE to larger clients with larger projects, also in DD. Top line growing fast and we’ve been sold out for months. Main area of hiring across Strategy is into PE and it’ll have more support and more investment going forward given op model changes

Lots of turnover in that group lately so tread carefully.

A&M PEPI leadership is heavy KPMG so we lose people to that group pretty often.

We're quietly pretty solid in PE - there's a reason why people can pretty easily leave to A&M, Alix, and S&.

VP to Manager? You must be coming from banking for that to make sense. KPMG is not a leader in any space and your experience with the people will depend on the city/office you work in.

I have ~7.5 years of experience with a mix of consulting/transformation/product. So I think manager seems right….I hope? Lol

I lateraled from a small firm to regional big law last year. I was told that my offer was commensurate with class year (5th year). The firm recently increased first year salary, with a 5% increase for all other attorneys. My original salary was equal to the new first year salary. The difference between my new salary and a first year is now $10k. I think it is fairly obvious that the hiring partner was not truthful with me. How would you address this? Is another lateral move my only option?

When should a stub start getting worried about not having much work and low billable hours?
I’ve asked for work but no luck. I know they say this is normal for a stub but when should I start getting worried and consider looking for exit options? Fyi, I like my practice group, so I don’t want to change to a different group within my firm, hence would have to lateral, if I have to. Also, other co-1st years are churning in high hours.

I am seeking new employment, I was recently laid off due to lack of work. I would very much appreciate any leads. I have a Bs in Construction Management and over 15 years experience with Revit and AutoCAD and 7 years of plumbing design. I have solid references and impeccable work ethic. I truly enjoy what I do. Working remotely the last three years has become a way of my life and supports our current situation well, therefore I am seeking a similar role but will consider other opportunities.

Im not sure if a CC charge back even applies in this case. Anyone had the same experience?

Hi all, I’d love to hear from PR/Comms folks about the process of transitioning from agency to an in-house role. What kind of chance does a PR pro with ~7 years of solid experience across CPG and hospitality brands, including a mix of global agency work and smaller boutique firms, have at going in house? Do you typically need more experience before going in house? Would be great to hear about various experiences from those that have made the transition. Thanks!

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
