9+ experience
I had an interview w/ the Hiring Manager at Boston Consulting Group for a position and it went so well that the HM said on the spot I was going to be moving onto the next round. Its been weeks since that interview & I've had to follow up w/ the recruiter 3x asking for an update. I mentioned interviewing elsewhere but prioritizing BCG. He finally responded to that saying he was going to debrief with the HM and get back to me but nothing... what gives?
2 in 1 laptop needed for MBA? Helpful at all?
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Guys there’s this boot camp that I came across that trains people to get jobs in Top consulting firms and has a fee plan wherein you pay once you get placed. I just wanted to know if someone here has any experience with this ?

Leave 100K in this job market?...yeah I’d pass. These MBAs are already sitting around because no one will hire them.

I wouldn’t do an MBA to go back to Accenture - unless it’s strategy. Even then I’d shoot for an MBB firm.
The two years experience would be more beneficial than the degree. You should also look at a certificate course and networking with the global thought leads in the area you want to work in.
The MBA still has a lot of value, but I don’t think it’s worth it or a differentiator in the mainline consulting practices.
McCombs for tech careers
Curious to know why only these two?
I’m at McCombs and loving it. I think there is a great ROI depending on where you are coming from. I was engineering making ~100k and will be exiting to consulting with TC ~200k. Tuition here is also much much cheaper than nearly all t20 schools.
That makes sense to me coming from a tech background. Otherwise it’s really hard justifying going from 100 to 100. If I go I hope to making 180+ min
Why not Wharton or Booth?
Curious though, wouldn’t the market improve in two years time for the MBA to get back to MBA pre covid value? Quite a few of my friends are considering to make the leap now vs later
We really don’t know what the market or consulting space will look like a few years from now. It will likely be very different though, and I don’t see how an MBA would help you adjust for that delta.
