This has come up more times than I can imagine, but a rule of thumb- if someone says they’re Spanish, it means they’re from Spain. A Latin American does not identify as Spanish, but from their respective countries, unless they are in fact referring to Spain. Just like someone who’s English is from England. It’s funny how I have to say “Spanish from Spain” every time I meet someone new.
