I’d say the world has felt off since 2015, not 2019

No thanks, too expensive like everything else

My theory is that Covid took us all out and we’re all now in purgatory 😵‍💫

I really do understand how you feel but I’m 64 and haven’t seen seen so much more over the years. It is tough now but it has always moved in waves. The biggest issue that’s different today is social media since 2012 or so. That has really damaged society and the way people relate to each other. I promise you, however, the US and the world has been MUCH worse place in the past than it is now.

My hope is that a group legislators will find a way to get things back on track politically, and a presidential candidate (likely coming from the Democratic Party - I am a moderate Republican) will step up that focuses on solving problems rather than fringe ideology.

Try to stay off social media for anything news related. It’s strictly entertainment and there is always an agenda - on both sides. I read the WSJ and NYT and listen to various radio news including BBC.

Also watch out for the big swings of societal pendulums. The MeToo and BLM and LGBT+ movements were very important but morphed into something else that caused (word choice intentional) what you see now. It’s hard to find balance - hence my comment above.

There’s a way out of this and I see glimmers of it recently. There is a way forward but it will require smart, strong leaders.

I also frequently think about how everything got weird after 2017-2019 and wonder if anybody else realizes this. Im 37 and feel like people under ~30 definitely don’t seem to get this but even people my age seem oblivious or don’t seem to care. Guess I’m just not coping well with the “new normal”.

The pandemic definitely made it feel like we jumped forward a few years because for a long stretch, most of our lives became mundane and contained to our living areas. And certainly feels like the political climate is worse than it ever has been because of how extreme viewpoints have gotten.

But feeling like your past normal is gone and feeling like time moves faster when you get older are normal things that happen as you age.

Other internship options include start-up or consulting.

So I have two jobs I’m in the running for at the same company. Position A offered basically the same comp that I’m making now, and I’m still waiting on the results for Position B. Position A would like an answer by tomorrow AM (I was told today, I asked for more time and they said no). Would you guys ever take a job at the pursuit of trying to switch internally in the company?

It’s always been a company that I’ve wanted to work at but making the same that I’m making now is what is stopping me

Hello,

Currently, in accenture. I have had very bad billable hours and not much achievement this fiscal year. I am worried of getting fired, so i applied for another job. Got offered may be 5% above my current pay with 5k bonus, but in lower level at Deloitte. I think working lower level will give me more opportunities to learn as i think i have lot to learn. I made decision based on my gut and accepted the offer. I have not talked to anyone on accenture side yet. What you think?

A quick note about what I’ve experienced, in my decade long career, is the real advantage of MBB or FAANG - it gives you a shot at stretch roles that are outside your expertise. Not all the time or even most of the time compared to better candidates with specific experience for the role but gives you this wildcard shot at a vast array of opportunities.
