This is the strongest argument I have heard for having a pet. It's either this or find a volleyball somewhere.

Very normal and common. Folks who test high on extrovert scales tend to think aloud and talk to themselves when they don't have someone else to talk to.

But to be clear, this statement seems to make a very large assumption. One in which extraverts are themselves considered "normal". Some would disagree.
