270$ difference is worth it being in biz imo
For perspective, this is one of only two nonstops for that route. Currently booked in economy on the other (United) but can cancel at any time. 30K and ~$80 in fees for that one
Looking to bump to business here but my options are somewhat limited if I don’t pay higher surcharges. No availability on anything else and would basically have to hope that United or Lufthansa opens up (both of which have a worse product than AirFrance’s 777).
Thoughts?
Many European fees are taxes based on what the fare would cost in currency, so higher fees for business class over economy. Might want to check other cities such as Amsterdam, Brussels, Dusseldorf, etc. for the trans Atlantic leg in business and take an economy ticket (or train) to Paris
SAS flight at 12:20pm? :)
I would deduct the fees from average ticket price and see if you are still getting 2cpp . If so worth it. If not better use of miles else where.
But CDG IAD is not that bad. You can survive in economy. Personally wouldn’t spend the extra miles and $$ for it.
Look at actual fare of ticket mines taxes you have to pay compared to what the 55k points will get you on a domestic ticket, in terms of dollars. It’s hard to redeem points into IAD from Europe without paying the taxes; I’ve done it for a BA flight.
