Thoughts on Peter Cooper Village in NYC as a 25M? I value social proximity, sunlight/greenery/space a bit as a baseline, and commute last. I’m leaning towards Murray Hill for the central location, shorter commute, and higher proportion of mid 20s folks but roommate wants PCV/stuy. My issue with PCV/stuy is that the commute is doubled at 30min and I don’t wanna be around a bunch of undergrads in east village all day

That's PwC territory.

I wouldn't step foot in that neighborhood for your own safety.

funny

Yeah but who are the Warriors and who are The Baseball Furies?

I prefer PCV due to the proximity to 1st ave, St Marks, Union Square etc. Not a big deal if the alternative is Murray Hill though. It’s only 10 blocks difference.

I would definitely choose Stuytown/PCV over Murray Hill. It has such a nice residential feeling with lots of greenery, and it’s very peaceful and quiet, yet you have great proximity to the EV. It’s not all NYU students either, there’s a good mix of mid to late 20s as well as families and older legacy residents.

Does anyone here browse YouTube videos for tips on running your practice? New legal software to try? Nuances in argumentation, deposition or trial skills, etc? IF so, how do you search for content? I’m posting this here instead of my usual Big Law bowl because I’m guessing there are people here who will understand. I just need to vent. I am married to a wonderful man who has a young son. My husband is the kindest, most patient and supportive man I’ve ever met other than my dear late grandfather. He is saintly. But the chaos that surrounds him hurts me. I am the primary breadwinner and far out earn my husband and my stepson’s bio mom. I have always put pressure on myself to succeed (Cont.)

I have a business idea in the VR/AR space utilizing AI. However, I lack skill sets to evaluate viability or to create an MVP. Neither do I have a network to tap into.

My plan is taking classes to deepen my knowledge while joining and actively participating in communities to find collaborators.

Does this approach make sense or do you recommend other approaches? If it makes sense, do you have any recommendations for classes or communities?

Look forward to hearing your experiences and wisdom!

I'm in finance/tech FPA, looking to go back to the defense industry for a 25% increase in TC. But wanted to see if I should leverage the new salary with current company to see if they'll match.

Background: got a promotion at current company that didn't come with sufficient increase . After stating my case I was told it would be evaluated next October, which is what prompted the initial job search.

Current TC 103K [88/15], offer 125k base [+discretionary bonus].

This is my first job in a large corporate company, and I’m trying to gauge how long it normally takes to move from entry level to another internal position in the insurance industry. I have been applying internally for a year now and I am wondering if this is normal or if my company is just slow? I am a top performer, with great metrics, and I have some wonderful connections I’ve made who support me. I just can’t seem to move up. How long did it take you to move up? How many tries did it take?

Hi Sharks, I don't have any friends in Tech Mahindra. Need to confirm one thing. I am holding offer from TechM and HR told whatever total variable pay we mention in offer letter, we pay the same on Monthly basis in salary.
Is it true?
Kindly confirm.
Also please let me know how's TechM for SAP functional consultant profile?

I recently joined Capgemini at 13.5 LPA along with 1 lakh as joining bonus. It was a jump from 6.5 and I have 4 YOE with 2 yrs in React JS
Two questions that's been bothering me -

Did I settle for less as I can see people taking even bigger jumps with less experience?

My joining date was 15 September, so am I eligible for upcoming appraisal as the annual review is due by October 14 and I have just joined a project?

Please share your insights as I have looked for advice everywhere else.

My wife started as an M at Accenture earlier this year coming from industry. I’ve never worked at Accenture or any b4, but I had to explain to her how up or out works. She also didn’t know that she came in with 24 months at level and what that meant. Really surprised none of this was communicated during hiring or by her manager.
