Dividend stock ETFs are meant for retirees to generate income. Are you retired? If not, it makes more sense to invest in a more standard equity index and get some higher growth as well.
During working years, your IRA is a good account to put regular income generating assets like bonds or REITs. The problem with dividend equities is they are qualified dividends mostly, it’s less of a tax benefit. For similar low growth as bonds or REITs.
Personally I have a mix of bonds and leveraged QQQ in my Roth. Bonds for the reason above, and the TQQQ for active swing trading against the NASDAQ. That one is not recommended for everybody.
Thanks SE1, I am 30 and just started investing in Roth IRA. Have investment in traditional 401k with mix of s&p500 index, us small cap stock index and international stock market index. I want some aggressive growth/high risk stock/etf/mf portfolio for roth ira, currently have FBGRX. Any suggestions for roth ira portfolio.
