Am I getting a paid a ton to be there and getting equity for a multi million dollar exit in a couple years? Then ok. Am I doing it just to give the owners one? Hell no.
Exactly how I feel and experienced at my current employer.
Constant workload overload. Everybody wearing hundreds of hats. Management constantly asking for last minute updates, slides, diagrams, formattings, etc.
A week or so ago, I had 4 separate slide decks to update essentially the same substance but in 4 different formats. I let management know that either that’s all I’d do that day and leave everything else behind or to drop priorities. Suddenly after pushing back about 3 of 4 weekly presentations I was asked to do were suddenly cancelled or no longer necessary.
I got chewed out recently for not properly formatting and addressing my tone/technical info for the audience even though I was randomly given a link 3 hours before deadline and told to update slides somebody copied from another meeting slide deck. I didnt have 3 hours to work on it, because I constantly answer phone calls, follow up on 20 threads for projects and other “high priority things”
Literal last minute meeting invitations, meetings from 8am to 8pm, with random invitation times, no agendas, and many invited members vs few attendees and even less actively discussing or even making decision.
I stopped showing up to anything before or after 9-5. The result? No complaints, no demands, no issues…
Can you better explain what you mean when you say is this sustainable?
Are you talking about on a personal level, or at a company level, or is this bad for society in general?
